Moldova will be represented by 11 athletes at the European Youth Kayak-Canoeing Championship that will take place in Romania’s Pitesti on September 17-20, IPN reports.
“We are very glad that this year’s European Championship will take place in Romania. It is close to us and we will be able to economize on the travel,” the president of the Moldovan Kayak-Canoeing Federation Iacob Buhna has told IPN.
The Moldovan athletes have trained for the competition in Molovata village of Dubasari district. “We trained permanently, the bad weather notwithstanding. The sudden drop in temperatures extended the program of warm-up exercises. The test races on the Nistru River remain mandatory,” said canoeist Ilie Oprea.
In the previous European Kayak-Canoeing Championship, the Moldovan young canoeists won five medals.
