The reconnection of 26 settlements, including of ATU Gagauzia, remains the biggest problem at the moment, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said after the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies that was held in the Government Building in the evening of April 25. The Premier noted it was established that there are sufficient emergency generators to distribute by one or two to each settlement where there is no electricity so that the people could charge their phones and do other urgent things, IPN reports.

Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac said 13,000 residents in southern Moldova remain disconnected from the power supply because the 110 kV power line in Gotesti is defective. The most serious situation is witnessed in Cahul. Twenty-two intervention teams work there to remedy the situation. All the consumers will be reconnected to the supply of electricity by this weekend.

As to the farmers who were affected by the heavy snowfalls of April 20 and 21, the Government will provide assistance to these after the local commissions for emergencies submit their assessment results.

Chief of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Mihai Harabagiu said a number of homes in Comrat district are exposed to the risk of being flooded following the melting of snow. Teams of rescuers intervened to pump the water out of over 100 yards. The water blocked the access road to Recea village of Straseni district.

Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu said the Byk River flooded in Anenii Noi district and measures are now taken to prevent the flooding of a quarter. The bed of the river near Bucovat is to be cleaned up to Ghidighici lake.
