The electoral period for the November 1 presidential elections begins on August 25. During the period, the Central Election Commission (CEC) coordinates the activity of all the electoral bodies so as to prepare and hold the elections. It also creates the electoral constituencies and the electoral district councils and supervises these councils, IPN reports.

Based on the data presented by the Ministry of Justice, the CEC publishes the list of parties and other sociopolitical organizations that can take part in elections and register the candidates and right-hand persons of these.

The CEC is to decide the place and time of accepting the documents needed to register initiative groups in support of candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova.

The candidate designation period starts 60 days before the election day and ends 30 days before the election day.

To be registered by the CEC, all the candidates for President must present at least 15,000 signatures and at most 25,000 signatures of voters from at least half of the second-level territorial-administrative units in support of them.

The election campaign prior to the presidential elections begins not earlier than 30 days before the election day.
