Local general elections on June 14 will take place in 37 electoral districts of the second level. The Central Election Commission (CEC) on April 17 approved a decision concerning the creation of these districts, IPN reports.
“The created districts correspond to the territorial-administrative division of Moldova, including of the territories that are temporarily outside the constitutional control of Moldova, from Transnistria. The creation of the district electoral councils is the next stage and we will yet take a decision concerning these territories, including Bender municipality,” said the CEC president Iurie Ciocan.
The district electoral councils that are to be created in the next meeting of the CEC will include by a representative of the parliamentary parties, by two representatives of the local courts and by two representatives of the local public authorities. If there are not enough members, the vacancies on the councils will be filled with the CEC personnel in reserve.
After the electoral districts councils of the second level are set up, there will be created the electoral councils of the first level.
The candidates for the posts of mayor and local councilor will submit the required documents to the councils of the first level, while the candidates for the posts of district councilor and municipal councilor – to the electoral councils of the second level.
