The new parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency are not captivating for political parties, especially for those of the right, considers political commentator Corneliu Ciurea. According to him, these elections are not opportune for some of the parties as they have to solve other problems. He referred in particular to the two parties that formed the ACUM Bloc, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), IPN reports.

The commentator said the right assessed its capacities and is trying to minimize risks. That’s why it didn’t field such well-known politicians as Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase as candidates in these elections. On the left, the situation is more relaxed as the Socialists regard these elections rather as training.

Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said the elections in Hâncești will indeed be like training for the parties that put forward candidates. “It will become evident who and how much costs. From this viewpoint, the stake can be slightly bigger than that in the elections held in other constituencies last autumn,” the MP noted in a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

PPPDA MP Vasile Năstase said there is yet time to hold negotiations and identify a common candidate for the elections in Hâncești. “I think such negotiations can be held after the eligible candidates are registered during the next two weeks and a compromise can be reached. I believe there is enough time for staging an efficient campaign,” he noted.

PAS MP Radu Marian said the Action and Solidarity Party initiated discussions with the PPPDA and proposed former minister of justice Olesea Stamate as a candidate for MP in Hâncești about one week before this thing was made public. The discussions still go on. “I hope we will continue the dialogue with the forces of the center right so that we all support the candidate with the biggest chances,” stated the MP.

The new parliamentary elections in the single-member constituency Hâncești were set for March 15 this year.
