More than 25,000 persons eligible to vote cast their ballots in the elections in the municipality of Balti by 2:30 p.m. This is 25% of the voting-eligible population, which is the required threshold, IPN reports.
According to the CEC, the ratio of female and male voters in the municipally of Balti by 2:30 p.m. was 57.93% to 42.07%.
As in Chisinau, the most active voters by age categories were the voters aged between 56 and 65, with a turnout of 23.09%, and those aged between 66 and 75, with a turnout of 22.46%. The persons aged between 18 and 25 and those older than 76 were the least active voters, with a turnout of 4.41% and of 6.29% respectively.
Polls close at 9 p.m.
For the first time, a threshold will also be required in the case of runoff local elections. This is of 1/5 of the voting-eligible population.
