The campaign prior to the November 1, 2020 presidential elections is the period during which campaigning to persuade the electors to vote for a particular electoral contender is allowed. Campaigning is allowed only after the registration of the election runner by the electoral authority, IPN reports.

The candidates can freely discuss the electoral programs of the electoral opponents, the political, professional and personal qualities of competitors. They can campaign at assemblies, protests, meetings with voters through the agency of media outlets, through electoral posters or other forms of communication.

The method of placing, in equal conditions, electoral advertisements on billboards, including privately owned ones, is approved by the Central Election Commission and is made public simultaneously with the start of the election campaign.

The election runners can organize meetings with voters and the local public authorities are obliged to ensure the possibility of having such meetings in legal timeframes and conditions. The electoral bodies can be informed about irregularities ascertained in the organization and holding of meetings.

The candidates cannot use public property – administrative resources – in the election campaign. The authorities or public institutions and the institutions associated with these cannot transmit or offer public property or other favors to electoral contenders if only under contract, in equal conditions for all the competitors.

Images that represent national and foreign state institutions or public authorities or international organizations cannot be used for electoral advertising purposes.

The electoral competitors are banned from engaging persons who are not citizens of the Republic of Moldova in campaigning, in any form.

On the election day, no campaigning inside polling stations or at the entrance to polling stations is permitted.
