Eighteen Chisinau couples celebrate golden weddings

The Chisinau City Hall and the Civil Registry have organized festivities to celebrate the golden weddings of 18 couples from Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Each couple was offered flowers and by 1,000 lei. We have celebrated the golden weddings since 1997. Initially, the couples received by 200 lei, then by 500 lei, while in 2008 by 1,000 lei. The persons that turn 100 now get by 5,000 lei,” said Nina Stratulat, the head of the Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division. “We organize golden anniversary festivities in concert with the Chisinau City Hall every month. A record number of couples participated in a festivity this year – 27,” said Tatiana Amihalachioaie, the head of the Registry Office. “I still remember my wedding day. Since then, we went through many difficulties, but with love, understanding and respect. We celebrated the silver wedding and now celebrate the golden wedding. We hope to reach the diamond wedding too. We have children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and are proud of them,” said Maria Bucataru, alongside her husband Petru. “We got married in summer. It was a beautiful day. I was very young and I fell in love. It was the nicest wedding. Now we have two children and seven grandchildren and are proud that we can given them an example,” said another ’bride’ Liuba Doiban. Since 1997 until present, 2,441 Chisinau couples have celebrated their golden anniversaries, while about 50 persons - their 100th anniversary.
