Eggs cheaper, vegetables and fruit more expensive in February

Average consumer prices in February increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month. More pronounced increases were witnessed in the case of fruit and vegetables and also of dairy products, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Average consumer prices in the case of vegetables in February grew by 2.1%, of fruits – by 1.6%, of vegetable oil – by 1.3%, of milk and dairy products – by 1.1%. Price decreases were reported for hen eggs – by 4.7%.

Average consumer prices increased for fuels – by 0.8% (including gasoline – by 1.8%, diesel fuel – by 1.1%, liquefied petroleum gas – by 0.7%), medicines – by about 0.7%.

After the Government granted compensations for the payment of electricity bills to household consumers, average prices (taking into account on-bill compensations) decreased by an estimated 15.4%, contributing to the decrease of average consumer prices by about 0.6%.

Average consumer prices in the last 12 months rose by 8.6%, including for food products by 7.9%, non-food goods by 4.1% and services provided to the population by 16.3%.
