This summer, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research recommends opening only day camps by obeying particular measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, IPN reports.

According to a circular addressed by Minister of Education Lilia Pogolșa to the local education bodies, the summer camps should work at 50% of their capacity and should implement the COVID-19 protective measures, such as maintaining of physical distance of at least 1.5 meters, prevention of crowdedness, cleaning of the protection equipment and disinfection of places.

The personnel of camps will have to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, while the students should have conditions for washing and disinfecting their hands.

Contacted by IPN for details, Mihail Garbuz, director of the summer camp “Camping” of Vadul lui Vodă, said he is often phoned by parents and is asked when the camp will be opened. He considers there is no risk for the students to become infected with COVID-19 at the camp as all the activities will be held in the open air. By at most two children will be accommodated in one room. They plan to launch their activities on June 15. The price of tickets wasn’t determined, but it could be higher than the previous years due to the costs associated with the purchase of thermometers, protective equipment and disinfectant.
