Romania is among most attractive countries for investment
Romania takes the second spot in the rankings of foreign direct investment with US$8.5 billion attracted and Poland was the largest beneficiary of foreign direct investment, with almost US$31.6 billion. The Republic of Moldova ranked twenty-first with US$417,000 in 2018-2023, according to a report by Emerging Europe.
More expensive gas in September
Moldovagaz in September will purchase natural gas from JSC Energocom at a higher price. It is €39.4 per MWh, equivalent to €419.25 per thousand cubic meters or 8,068.72 lei per thousand cubic meters (excluding VAT), IPN reports.
According to Moldovagaz, the price is formed depending on the forecasted higher calorific value of 10.64 kWh per cubic meter and starting from the respective exchange rate.
In August, the purchase price was €32.63 per MWh, equivalent to €347.18 per thousand cubic meters or 6659.15 lei per thousand cubic meters (excluding VAT).
Number of millionaires up. Youngest is 19, while oldest is 83
There were over 6,400 individual millionaires in the Republic of Moldova last year, compared to 4,800 in 2022. The total income obtained by these persons was 19.7 billion lei, and the withheld tax was 1.46 billion lei. According to the State Tax Service, the highest amount of income declared by an individual in 2023 was 28.8 million lei. The youngest person in this category was 19 years old, while the oldest one was 83 years old.
Dumitru Alaiba: Switzerland is one of largest investors in Moldova
Switzerland is one of the largest investors in the Republic of Moldova. As many as 120 Swiss companies have already decided to invest in the country and are present in a number of fields, from the production of medicines and processing of fruit and vegetables to the manufacture of electrical and electrotechnical equipment. These investments have contributed significantly to Moldova’s economic development, to providing well-paying jobs, and the growth potential is still considerable, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba stated at a news conference held together with State Secretary and Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Federal Government Helene Budliger Artieda.

Zernoff’s import application rejected by Licensing Commission
The Provisional Licensing Commission for the Import of Cereal and Oilseed Crops rejected the application for the import of 24,000 tonnes of corn and 8,000 tonnes of wheat submitted by Zernoff LLC.
Financial pyramids: How do we avoid pitfalls?

CES allots 100m lei for farmers affected by drought
The Commission for Emergency Situations (CES) has allocated 100 million lei from the Government’s Intervention Fund for farmers affected by drought. This was announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the beginning of the Cabinet’s meeting.
New landfill and sorting and composting station to be built in Cahul
The current landfill in Cahul municipality is to be closed and a new landfill will be built in its place, as well as a sorting and composting station. Also, transfer stations will be erected in Cania, Taraclia and Comrat towns. All the works are to be carried out with a grant of €4.34 million provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. On Wednesday, the Cabinet approved the signing of the agreement in this regard.
Repaired section of Mihai Viteazul bridge reopened to traffic
A repaired portion of the bridge located on Mihai Viteazul St was reopened to vehicle traffic after rehabilitation works that lasted for two years. Officials of the General Urban Mobility Division have told IPN that today traffic can move on one lane, in one direction, but from tomorrow both directions will be available as the fencing and securing works are to be completed.

Simplified procedure for introducing cosmetic products from EU into Moldova

Price of gasoline decreases to 23 lei/liter
Gasoline COR 95 on Friday will be sold at the pump for no more than 23 lei per liter. The National Agency for Energy Regulation announced a reduction of 0.09 lei for tomorrow.
National economy remains clearly indebted to “rest of the world”, NBM
At the end of the first quarter of this year, the net financial value of the national economy amounted to -103.5 billion lei, as opposed to -107.5 billion lei at the end of last year. Current fuel prices are at lowest level this year, NAER
A liter of gasoline COR 95 during the next three days will be sold for 22.89 lei, by 0.11 lei less than today. Diesel fuel will be sold at the pump for no more than 19.73 lei for a liter, which is by 0.03 lei less. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) said the decline in fuel prices continues for the nineth consecutive week.
Digital services will save citizens about 1 billion lei in 2024, conference
Almost 60% of public services are currently available in digital format to entrepreneurs, compared to 38% in June 2023. At the same time, 50% of the services are available in digital format to citizens. This will save the citizens about 1 billion lei in 2024, Cătălina Plinschi, secretary of state for digitalization of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, stated at the national conference “Local digitalization: innovation and easy access to e-services”.
