New rules for producers that generate packing waste

The new rules for producers that generate packing waste came into force. As of January 1, 2023, only business entities recorded in the Automated Waste Management Information System (SIA-MD) can place goods that generate packing waste in the utilization process on the market, the Ministry of Environment noted in a press release. The goal of this measure is to prevent or reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Gross external debt at US$8.885,50bn in third quarter of 2022

The gross external debt of the Republic of Moldova didn’t change significantly in the third quarter of last year, rising by 1.4% on December 31, 2021. On September 30, 2022, the gross external debt was US$8.885,50 billion, which was 62.1% of the Gross Domestic Product, down 2.0 percentage points compared with December 31, 2021, IPN reports, quoting preliminary data of the National Bank of Moldova.

Prices of oil products go up

The prices of oil products have grown at the beginning of the year. The rise stems from the increase in the profit margin on oil products and the higher excise duties that started to be applied on January 1, 2023, IPN reports, quoting the National Agency for Energy Regulation. These two factors, cumulated with the tendencies on international exchanges, for January 4 generated a rise of 0.70 lei in the price of gasoline and of 0.46 lei in the price of diesel fuel. Gasoline will cost 23.32 lei a liter, while diesel fuel – 23.64 lei a liter.

Force of Farmers” seeks return to mechanism for refunding excise duties on bought diesel fuel

Representatives of the public association “Force of Farmers” demand to urgently introduce the special margin on the wholesale sale of oil products of at most 1.5 lei per liter in the legislation. They also ask to restore the mechanism for refunding excise duties on the purchased diesel fuel to farmers. The association said that owning to the rise in profit margin and excise duties, the prices of diesel fuel grew significantly. The farmers continue to be discriminated in the process of selling oil products needed for farming works.

Environmental permit of Rybnitsa steel works extended

The Commission for Exceptional Situations decided to extend the environmental permit for waste management and the air emissions permit of the Rybnitsa steel works until January 31, IPN reports. The Commission also extended the time limit for paying by SA Moldovagaz the import duties on the natural gas transmitted through pipes during April-December 2022 until January 31.

Marin Ciobanu: Lufthansa Cargo and Fraport are interested in investing in Mărculești Airport

The Mărculești International Airport can be modernized and used as a logistics hub for transporting goods needed for the reconstruction of infrastructure in Ukraine, said the director of the Investment Agency Marin Ciobanu. According to him, two renowned international operators, the German companies Fraport and Lufthansa Cargo, expressed their readiness to invest in Mărculești.

Gas bought from Gazprom in January will cost US$1,230 per 1,000 m³

SA Moldovagaz in January will purchase natural gas from the Russian gas company Gazprom at the price of US$1,230 per 1,000 . The announcement was made by the president of the Administration Board of SA Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban, IPN reports.

Vadim Ceban said that in accordance with the price calculation formula, the final value will be determined after January 10. The whole amount of gas bought from the Russian supplier will be delivered to Tiraspoltransgaz in the Transnistrian region, including for producing electrical energy for the right side of the Nistru.

Details about entry into country with cars registered abroad

As from January 1, resident and nonresident individuals can bring into the Republic of Moldova units of transport declared through action and placed under temporary admission customs regime for a period of up to 180 days during 12 consecutive months, without exception.

Andrei Spînu: We have sufficient gas reserves to pass well winter

The Republic of Moldova secured sufficient amounts of natural gas for this winter, said Deputy Premier Andrei Spînu. According to him, Energocom purchases gas for the right side of the Nistru from the international market at a price that is lower than the one resulting from the contract signed with Gazprom. The amounts of gas provided by Gazprom continue being supplied to the Transnistrian region for the MGRES (Kuchurgan power plant) to deliver electricity to the right side of the Nistru at a lower price.

The Moldovans reduced consumption and economized as they had a gloomier perception of their earnings. In 2023, this perception will change. The people will become more optimistic and consumption is expected to increase, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Veaceslav Ioniță stated in an economic analysis.
