The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) validated the agreement on the amicable settlement of the application against Moldova filed by the Romanian TV channel to the European Court, IPN reports.
On its website, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the decision of the ECHR has execution power and is immediately implementable. Its implementation will be supervised by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The conditions needed to ensure the return of TVR1 to the media space of Moldova were already met.
The cable operators of Moldova will be able to broadcast the programs of TVR intended for Moldova within 30 days of the formal request made by TVR. Within the same terms, there will be allocated a slot from the pilot project for digital terrestrial transmission, located in Chisinau, and a slot from the future digital multiplexor with coverage all over Moldova. There will be also issued a broadcast license to TVR for the longest period possible in accordance with the Moldovan legislation, without the obligation to take part in a contest.
The agreement on amicable settlement was signed on September 12 in Bucharest by the president of the Romanian Television Society (SRTv) Claudiu Saftoiu and Moldova’s governmental agent Lilian Apostol.
