Each Moldovan citizen has an external debt of over USD 630

The foreign debt per capita increased in the first semester of 2006 by over USD 43 and constitutes over USD 630. At the same time, the public and publicly guaranteed debt per capita exceeded the sum of USD 233, compared with USD 228 at the end of 2005. According to the official statistics, the population of Moldova is of 3.395 mln inhabitants.
The data of the National Bank of Moldova show that on June 30, the external debt constituted USD 2 bln 141.7 mln, by USD 145 mln more compared with the beginning of this year.
At the same time, the public and publicly guaranteed external debt increased by over USD 19 mln and constituted USD 793.82 on June 30.
The most important multilateral creditors of Moldova are the World Bank, the EBRD and the European Union, and the most important bilateral creditors are the USA, Japan and Russia.
