Each fifth petition submitted to the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM) refers to bank frauds. The Commission announced a sharp increase in the number of petitions about bank frauds and formulated a series of recommendations to citizens, IPN reports.

According to the NCFM, citizens are called by unknown persons who present themselves as representatives of the bank where they have an account and inform about an alleged withdrawal of money from the account. Thus, under the pretext of providing help, the scammers obtain the necessary data to withdraw the money available on the card.

In order not to become a victim of such situations, the NCFM informs the citizens that no employee of the bank ever requests confidential data of cardholders, such as card number, expiration date, CVV code, card pin, passwords for access to the online account or single-use codes received by SMS to confirm the completion of a transaction.

The citizens are urged to be vigilant and not to provide the given data, not to access suspicious links, to activate the SMS-notifications service so as to be immediately informed about any transaction made with the card, to activate the option of setting limits for card transactions and to report any suspicious activity to the bank that serves them.
