An e-ticketing system is to be put into operation in Chisinau. The project includes innovative functionalities for paying for the trip in public transport, flexibility in setting fares and abolishing physical tickets. The piloting of the system will begin on trolleybus route No. 30, which connects the city center and the airport, IPN reports.
It is not yet known when the actual process will begin as the procedure is complex, said the project managers. According to representatives of the Chisinau City Hall, the system will be gradually adapted and extended to cover the entire city.
The e-ticketing study, which was presented on Tuesday at the City Hall, is part of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Chisinau City Hall. According to the experts who conducted this study, the document presents solutions for public transport, such as contactless cards, digital tickets and mobile applications designed to provide the citizens with quick access, increased comfort and a cleaner environment. The project aims to modernize public transport in Chisinau, aligning it with European standards, the source also said.
