Moldovan pugilist Dumitru Galagot lost 0-3 to Pat McCormack of England in the 1/8 finals of the World Boxing Championship held in Doha. Thus, the boxer trained by Petru Caduc missed the chance to try to take revenge on Russia’s Vitalii Dunaitsev, who beat him in the quarterfinals of the last European Championship, IPN reports.
Galagot was the only representative of Moldova at the World Championship in Doha. He still has chances to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games. Two qualifying competitions will take place next spring.
The Moldovan boxers have won no medal at World Boxing Championships so far. Instead, Moldova medaled two times at the Olympics, where Vitalie Grusac and Veaceslav Gojan won bronzes.
