The Parliamentary Faction of the Democrat Party is extremely revolted at the way the composition of the Audiovisual Coordinating Council was discussed within the Commission for culture, science, education, youth, sports and media and requests reexamination of the list, the leader of the faction, Dumitru Diacov declared on Friday, October 13. “The desire of the whole Parliament is to have a working national authority in the field, which would reform the audiovisual according to the international standards and requirements. This is why it would have been better if this composition would have been transparently discussed, and the chosen persons would have correspond to the standards stipulated by the law”, Diacov said. According to him, this list could be voted by communists’ faction and by the Christian-democrat one, so that ACC, as well as the audiovisual would belong to those 2 factions. Diacov says that he holds information which confirms that a political agreement was made, saying that PD was also invited to participate in this agreement. According to his colleague, Vladimir Filat, all these candidates had to be examined by the media committee and the Legal Committee for appointments and immunities. MP Anatol Taranu declared that what happened at the media committees is “a fake of democracy”. Taranu says that he had to leave the Committee’s meeting held on Thursday, because the composition of ACC and the way of selecting candidates confirms the fact that nothing will change in the Moldovan Audiovisual, on the contrary, the situation will worsen. “The selection of candidates was performed absolutely non- transparently”, the cited source added. On the other hand, Victor Stepaniuc declared that all the procedures were made absolutely legally, open and transparently, and the media participated at the works of the Committee. “It is clear that the election was made through the subjective vote of the MPs, but the law allows it”, he said. The specialized committee selected on Thursday 9 candidates for the office of CCA members. 5 of them were proposed by communist MPs, 3 by Christian-democrats and 1 by the representatives of the Democrat Party in the Committee. 3 candidates proposed by Anatol Taranu did not accumulate the necessary number of votes and he left the meeting as a protest to some candidatures. The MP of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Anatol Onceanu did not participate in the voting. He was not present at the previous meeting, mentioning that he was announced too late. Onceanu declared that the voting of the candidates to the office of CCA members “is a circus”. This issue will be examined in the plenary meeting of the Parliament on September 19.
