Supporters of the Mayor of Comrat Nicolai Dudoglo, who ran for the post of Governor of Gagauzia last December, consider the naming of incumbent Governor Mihail Formuzal as an ex officio member of the executive by a decree issued by Acting President Marian Lupu is unfair. A resolution adopted in the regional assembly of Gagauz voters on January 16 says that the inclusion of Mihail Formuzal in the Cabinet is not legal as the Comrat Court of Appeals has not yet validated the results of the December 26 election, Info-Prim Neo reports. The resolution also says that Mihail Formuzal took an oath without remorse, standing on his knees before Marian Lupu, Vlad Filat and his ministers, and kissing the tricolor. Instead of defending supremacy, the Parliament of Moldova violates it publicly. The participants in the meeting demanded again that the Comrat Court of Appeals invalidate the results of the second round of voting for the Governor of Gagauzia and order rerunning the elections. The indignant voters say there were committed serious violations like double voting, bribing of voters and members of election commissions, intimidation of voters, taking of ballots out of polling places and other irregularities that, according to them, affected the election outcome. The assembly was staged by the public association “Novaya Gagauzia” (“New Gagauzia”) that is headed by Nicolai Dudoglo and by his electoral staff. According to the organizers, about 3,000 people took part in the event, including Nicolai Dudoglo, vice chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Boris Demianenko, and the leader of the Congress of Russian Communities of Moldova Valery Klimenko. The Comrat Court of Appeals, which during two weeks has examined the violations claimed to have been committed in the December 26 election, is to convene on January 17. Mihail Formuzal was sworn in together with the other members of the Cabinet on January 14 in the evening.
