A drugstore or a pharmaceutical point will be opened in each village in Moldova, regardless of the geographical position and number of inhabitants. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev entrusted this task to the National Health Insurance Company and Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Premier requested the Government’s apparatus to co-work with the institutions in the field in order to draw up a concept of extending the number of drugstores in Moldova. “We are not against the private drugstores, but in parallel with their network must be also create a system of the state-run pharmacies, which would function on the basis of a loyal competition”, says Prime Minister. Tarlev sought to exclude the intermediaries from the pharmaceutical system and to intensify the fight against counterfeit medicines, as the drugstores will be supplied directly by the producer, so that the drugs will be accessible, including their prices, and the buyer could decide where to get them: from a state chemist’s or from a private one. The above-mentioned institutions are to present an action plan for 2007 by January 25. The share of the local production on the pharmaceutical market in Moldova is at present of 10%. The domestic producers are "Farmaco", "Eurofarmaco", "Farmaprim", "Depofram", "RNP Pharmaceutical” etc.
