Two trucks collided frontally and overturned, blocking the road between the villages Bardar and Sociteni of Ialoveni district on Monday afternoon. The drivers died on the spot. One person was rushed to the hospital, IPN reports, with reference to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
According to the Inspectorate, an extrication team took the bodies out. A man who was in the damaged cab of one of the trucks was taken to the hospital with different injuries in a conscious state.
The Inspectorate’s employees continue works at the scene. They also wash the roadway to ensure fire safety.
Update /5:50pm/ The police preliminarily determined that the truck that was heading for Hîncești town and was driven by a man aged 54 tried to overtake a combine and collided head-on with another truck driven by a 65-year-old man that was going to Chisinau municipality. A woman aged 28 and her brother aged 16, who are the children of one of the drivers, were taken to the hospital with traumas.
