Prime Minister Dorin Recean assures that there are no reasons for a new increase in gas charges. He said that through the changes made in the budget, additional funds were allocated to provide compensation to citizens during the heating season, IPN reports.

In the program "Emphasis on Today" on TVR Moldova channel, the prime minister criticized the former member of Moldovagaz’s Supervisory Board Sergiu Tofilat. Dorin Recean accused him of sabotaging gas purchases and using his influence to the detriment of the interests of the Republic of Moldova.

"When companies could buy cheaper gas, he blocked those purchases," Premier Recean noted. "Moldovagaz in July was ready to buy gas for €32 and the reaction that we should not buy for €32 as the price can drop to €28 came later. After this, the market price rose.”

Dorin Recean instructed the Public Property Agency to convene the General Assembly and to appoint a new member of the Supervisory Board. He reiterated his invitation to civil society to provide a corresponding expert to represent it in the Supervisory Board.

In the context of the energy crisis faced by the Republic of Moldova, the official assured that there will be no new increases in gas charges. The statement comes after the charge on December 1 rose to 16.74 lei per cubic meter of gas, with VAT.

"Even under the new conditions, this year's charges are not higher than last year's. They are even slightly lower. This does not mean that we should not optimize the purchase price. It does not mean that we should not reduce the charges. Each time, the Government will intervene and support the citizens," said the premier.

Dorin Recean said that the Government approved a budget amendment by which the compensation package was increased by 111 million lei.

After the dismissal of Victor Parlicov from the position of Minister of Energy, Premier Recean announced that he will take over the energy portfolio and will ask the Parliament to declare a state of emergency in this sector starting with December 16. On the same day, Victor Bînzari was dismissed as head of Energocom, while Sergiu Tofilat was removed from the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz.
