Ex-Minister of Home Affairs, currently presidential adviser Dorin Recean was proposed for the post of Prime Minister. The announcement was made by President Maia Sandu following the resignation tendered by Natalia Gavrilița, IPN reports.

“The new Government needs to concentrate its attention on economic development and reinvigoration. We need to stimulate economic growth and to attract high-quality foreign investment so as not to only cope with the rise in prices globally, but to also have more jobs, higher salaries and to improve the living standards of the Moldovans,” President Sandu stated in a press briefing.

The new Government will have to continue and accelerate the justice sector cleanup. “The rotten system will try to place obstacles, but the new Government is obliged to speed up the process of clearing the country of corruption and injustice,” stated President Sandu.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said the parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidarity took notice of Natalia Gavrilița’s resignation and of the designation of the new candidate for Prime Minister.  They expressed their support for Dorin Recean and will fully assist the new Government.

“We trust that the new Government led by Mister Recean will implement the strategy for developing the Republic of Moldova proposed by President Maia Sandu and the Party of Action and Solidarity,” noted the Speaker.

Dorin Recean was named adviser to President Maia Sandu on defense and national security in February 2022. He served as Minister of Home Affairs in the Filat Government and the Leancă Government.
