The Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca on November 14 announced that he leaves his post and returns to the Liberal Party’s list of candidates running in the November 30 parliamentary elections. During the next two weeks, his post will be held by deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, IPN reports.
“I return to the Liberal Party’s list of candidates for MP today so that the party could take part in the 2014 parliamentary elections in its full composition,” said the first deputy chairman of the PL.
“The PL was in the government and in opposition. It was in Parliament and in the Cabinet and went through periods of glory and betrayal. We consider that it reached that level of maturity that allows it to come with a relevant offer concerning the future government before the Moldovan people.”
The priorities of the Liberals’ government program include corruption fighting, ensuring of independent justice, strengthening of a free economy and maintenance of the country’s European course. “We are for a pro-European alliance in power. We call on the voters to be near the PL and to support the European course, including through the agency of the democratic forces that can achieve such an objective,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.
Referring to the ratification of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU by the European Parliament, he said that the PL welcomes this event, which shows that Europe wants to be with Moldova, while Moldova will show if it wants to be with Europe on November 30.
The Liberal Party is under No. 14 in the ballot.
