Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who is a negotiator on behalf of the Liberal Party (PL) at the talks on the creation of a government coalition, on January 12 announced that there is yet no new information concerning the talks, but the negotiations go on. The first deputy chairman of the PL noted that not the length of the talks, but their quality and results count in fact, IPN reports.

“There is no new information about the negotiations. You know that two or three meetings were held during the winter holidays and more such meetings will take place, as far as I know. We hope that a consensus will be reached and this chapter in our activity will be closed,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.

He also said it is important to make progress in agreeing the content. “I realize that there is certain dissatisfaction, but it’s better to lay emphasis on quality than on quantity,” he stated.

The leaders of the three parties that are negotiating the formation of the government coalition – the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the PL - had meetings on January 6 and January 8. After the first meeting, the leaders told the journalists that they discussed the distribution of state posts and the principles that will lay at the basis of the new coalition. After the second meeting, they said that they agreed not to make statements for the media.

The three parties announced the initiation of the talks on the creation of a parliamentary majority on December 4.
