The Liberal Party’s candidate for the mayoralty Dorin Chirtoaca during his four-year tenure as mayor of Chisinau dismissed 10-15 high-ranking officials who had been involved in illegalities. The Communist Party’s candidate Igor Dodon said that Dorin Chirtoaca named about 20 persons to posts without contest. The two candidates made related statements in a program on ProTV Chisinau channel, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca said that not all the aspects of the dismissal procedure are known. He stressed that though a number of functionaries were fired, the court reinstated them in their posts.
”The head of the Social Assistance Division Eugenia Ciobanu was discharged from her post for two times and one time was retired. There were also dismissed two officials of the Construction Division and the deputy head of Centru sector for violations,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
He also said that most of the dismissed officials were reinstated by the Moldovan justice in several days or at most several weeks. He also said that the divisions may be reorganized or the officials can be fired according to the law in continuation.
Igor Dodon replied that Eugenia Ciobanu was discharged for political reasons as he son forms part of the Communist Party’s staff. According to him, about 20 persons were appointed to posts without contest by order of Dorin Chirtoaca.
Dorin Chirtoaca explained that the given persons were either transferred or promoted, which is perfectly legal.
