Dorin Chirtoaca: Education institutions should be fully financed with public money

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca has invited the parents who know cases of corruption in schools and kindergartens and persons who asked money from them for repairs, the institutions' funds and other purposes to the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. At Monday's meeting of the City Hall, Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, denied that the Division asked the parents to financially support the education institutions as certain media outlets reported. The mayor general replied that generalizations will exist until there are cases of bribery. He said he was recently informed that special taxes are levied in one kindergarten for admitting the children as well as some other 'taxes'. There should be laid down strict rules in the relations with the parent associations so that the parents do not consider that the schools ask money from them, the mayor said. Dorin Chirtoaca also said that in accordance with the legislation and the Constitution, the preschool and preuniversity education institutions must be fully financed with public money.
