The Liberal Party candidate for the position of general mayor of Chișinău, Dorin Chirtoaca, said that the first and most unpleasant conclusion of these elections regards the low voter turnout. In a press conference held after the polling stations have closed, the PL leader said that "from this point of view, the Republic of Moldova has entered a deep crisis. People no longer want to hear about politics nor about elections".
According to the PL leader, the Moldovan political class, starting with 1989, has failed many tests and reached a point when it has even failed the test of elections. "The political class is penalized for the fact that it does not properly behave in relation to the citizens, which generated voter fatigue. Regardless of the results, they will be bitter", said the PL chairman.
Dorin Chirtoacă, who was previously voted three times as mayor of Chișinău, added that the residents of the city have penalized the right-wing representatives for everything that has happened in the country since June, when the ACUM Bloc and PSRM have created a government coalition, which led to several state institutions to be headed by socialists.
Dorin Chirtoacă concluded that "this election campaign was a parade of incompetence, demagoguery, empty statements and lack of content".
