Domnica Manole, Constitutional Court judge, announces that today, first thing in the morning, she has submitted a request for revising the decision on the CC chairman election, dated August 19, IPN reports.

In her request, Domnica Manole mentions that, after the decision-making procedure, the results of the secret ballot for the election of the CC chairman became partially known and there is a reasonable suspicion that the secret ballot results were rigged.

On Monday evening, the freshly appointed Constitutional Court judge Liuba Șova said on TV8 that Vladimir Turcan's election as CC chairman was rigged and that the vote was the result of a previously made decision. Liuba Șova said she had received a message from a Parliament’s employee, suggesting that she should put forward Vladimir Turcan’s candidature to the position of chairman and he would appoint her caretaker for when he needs to be away.

Olesea Stamate, Minister of Justice, reacted: "Mrs. Șova made several statements showing the seriousness of the situation. The relevant bodies must immediately respond and investigate whether there have been attempts to influence judges of the Constitutional Court, and the persons involved should be brought to justice. Until then, the submitted information may serve as basis for the annulment of the results of the CC chairman election, in order to avoid another a strong blow to this institution’s credibility," the minister wrote in a Facebook post.

After the contest for the CC chairman election, Prime Minister Maia Sandu declared that "the appointment of a Socialist Party exponent as Constitutional Court’s head is a serious issue, which further undermines the confidence of the only constitutional jurisdiction in the country".

Vladimir Turcan could not be reached for comment.
