Constitutional Court judge Domnica Manole says she did not vote for Vladimir Turcan to be elected chairman of the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.

On Facebook the judge wrote that the Law on the Constitutional Court required judges not to disclose the secret of deliberation, but that she made public the information in the interest of society, but also based on the public statements of some of her colleagues, concerning what happened on Monday, when Vladimir Turcan was elected.

"I declare with full responsibility that I did not vote for the election of Vladimir Turcan as CC Chairman. I cannot say who voted for him without grounds, because the vote was secret, " Domnica Manole wrote.

Another CC judge, Liuba Șova, told TV8 last night that she voted in favour of herself and that she inferred that the person who put forward her candidature to this position did the same.

Liuba Șova was proposed as candidate for the position of CC Chairman by Judge Nicolae Roșca. The latter stated for the same TV station that he had a separate opinion as to which candidate should have taken over the Chair of the institution. "I put forward one candidate and voted for another one," the judge said.

There were two nominations for the position of CC chairman. Vladimir Turcan was declared the winner, while Liuba Șova will exercise the powers of CC chairperson in his absence.

The Chairman of the CC is elected by secret ballot of the six members appointed by twos by the Government, Parliament and the High Council of the Judiciary.
