Doctors earned 1,017 lei on average last year, including 1,063 lei in medical-sanitary institutions. According to the National Bureau for Statistics, doctors earned 1,747 lei on average a month, while medical-sanitary personnel earned 1,037 lei. Doctors working in hospitals warned 1,796 lei on average a month, while medical-sanitary personnel from the same institutions were paid 1,023 lei a month. Teeth doctors and their assistants were paid 1,321 lei and respectively 930 lei a month. At the same time, veterinary doctors earned 845 lei on average, while social assistants were paid 550 lei. The average pay in education was 882 lei, including 556 in primary education and 855 in secondary education. The monthly average pay in higher education was 1,760 lei. A worker in economy earned 1,319 lei on average. The minimum consumption basket was estimated at 1,500 lei in January.
