The doctors who treat patients with COVID-19 are exhausted and risk their own health daily. The community, instead of helping them, makes their work more difficult. The people spread the virus due to their negligee and, being sick, go to the drugstore, to the market or another public place, said lawyers Angela and Anatolie Istrate, who received treatment for COVID-19 in the hospital for a month.

In an online interview entitled “Call to reason from ward of patients seriously ill from COVID-19” that was conducted by IPN News Agency, the couple said they are grateful to the doctors who work with dedication and helped them to fight the disease. They yet condemn the behavior of ill-intentioned persons who do not obey the preventive measures. The woman said the number of seriously ill persons is large. There were no free places in the intensive care unit in the hospital where they received treatment. The National Clinical Hospital was also full. She fears a collapse when those who need assistance could not be helped. She knows cases when patients with a positive test for COVID-19 were discharged from the hospital in order to free places for patients in a more serious state.

Her husband, lawyer Anatolie Istrate said the situation is alarming. “Imagine, dear citizens, that the doctors who now enjoy maximum protection die. What shall we, those who do not have enough or not at all knowledge in medicine, do?” He was a witness to the situation when young resident doctors who were to take care of patients with COVID-19 quit the next day as they didn’t resist the tense situation.

The lawyer considers the minister of health, labor and social protection, who knows the ordeal through which the people with COVID-19 go, should tell the citizens about the consequences of the virus. “For me, it is important that the ministry is managed by an expert in the field. We must find specialists who would coordinate the situation in society so as to fight the virus,” stated Anatolie Istrate.

The lawyer called on decision makers of the justice sector to order measures so as to avoid crowdedness and reduce the staying time at courts of law. There are now too many people inside courts of law, but there could be infected people among them.
