An endoscopist is accused of malpractice that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old woman held at Penitentiary No.16-Pruncul. The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent the case to court, IPN reports.
The woman died two hours after undergoing bronchoscopy with biopsy. It happened in October 2017. The legal examination report shows the woman died from anaphylactic shock, which is an allergic reaction to anesthetics. The reaction was provoked by lidocaine, whose presence was detected by histological lab analyses. The experts concluded the necessity of bronchoscopy wasn’t justified.
The doctor, 43, has held the post since 2010. He faces up to three years jail with or without ban on holding a particular post or performing a particular activity for a period of two to five years.
