Ahead of Epiphany, teams made up of rescuers, police officers and carabiniers simulated dives. The specialists carried out the exercises in a pond in Chisinau with the aim of popularizing safety measures, especially in ice-covered water bodies.

The rescuers and SMURD employees recommend using specially designed places for bathing, equipped with wooden stairs. To avoid risks to health and hypothermia, before entering the water, the body must be warmed up. The stay in cold water should not exceed 10 seconds. When going out of the water, the person should immediately put on warm clothes.

It is forbidden to crowd on ice, to allow children immerse without supervision, to dive while intoxicated and directly from the ice.

Epiphany is celebrated on January 19. Immersion in cold water is the tradition of this day. To deal with possible risk situations, 37 mobile teams of rescuers, police officers and carabiniers will be on duty in 57 locations this Sunday.
