The leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France are meeting in Minsk on February 11 for discussions under the ‘Normandy format’ - a four-way dialogue established last year on the fringes of events to commemorate the anniversary of D-Day - in a move to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said he goes to Minsk to bring the violence in his country to an end and to demand an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and the initiation of a political dialogue, Mediafax reported on its website, quoted by IPN.

“We will reach a compromise in the country. We must protect peace, quietness in Kramatorsk. We must protect Ukraine,” Poroshenko said during a visit made to Kramatorsk city in Donetsk region in the evening of February 10.

Before the discussions under the ‘Normandy format’, the contact group on Ukraine consisting of representatives of Moscow, Kyiv, the separatist republics Donetsk and Luhansk and the OSCE, had a new round of talks that lasted until the morning of February 11.
