Students from a number of schools of Chisinau learned about the family as a symbol and supreme value at a public conference organized by the UN Information Center of the National Library of Moldova in connection with the International Day of Families, IPN reports.

National Library director general Elena Pintilei said the institution prepared a series of activities centering on the family and family relations. “We hope the young people who today take part in the conference will return to the National Library accompanied by other people. This is a benchmark for the start of their life. If you build a happy family, the children who will be raised in this family will definitely be decent citizens. Without the seven-year education received at home, a child cannot become a respectable citizen,” she stated.

Doctor habituate in pedagogy Larisa Kuznetsov told the young people about the family so as to raise their awareness and motivate them to build happy families. The young people were invited to such an event in order to help them improve their family-building and parenting skills. The young people should know what is important for a family and what they should do to have good family relations.

Nina and Ion Stratulat got married 53 years ago and came to tell the young people about the secrets of a happy family. Nina Stratulat said if there is sincere love, a marriage turns into a holy bond that keeps the husband and the wife together. “It seems that you cannot exist without your partner. We always supplemented each other and helped each other so as to keep our family,” she stated.

The International Day of Families was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on September 20, 1993 with celebration on May 15 each year to underline the importance attached by the international community to the families.
