The avoidance of bankruptcy is one of the greatest accomplishments of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” last year. Among other accomplishments were the implementation of a number of projects and the cooperation relations established with the foreign partners EBRD and EIB, the company’s director Veronica Herta stated in a news conference held to present the achievements of 2017 and the priorities for this year, IPN reports.
According to Veronica Herta, despite all the difficulties “Apa-Canal Chisinau” managed to purchase different modern devices, vehicles and last-generation equipment and to implement successful projects.
“I would like to stop at two comparative figures. In 2016, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau suffered losses of 87 million lei, but in 2017 we managed to avoid bankruptcy and made a profit of 9.5 million lei. This is the first year, at least during the last five years, when such a result was achieved. This result was possible owing to a set of measures,” stated the director.
Veronica Herta noted the successful utilization of the loan provided by the EBRD and EIB was an important accomplishment. The renovation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant that will last for 900 days is the most ambitious project financed by the EBRD and EIB. “The modernization works will cover both water treatment and sludge treatment. There will be built primary and secondary aeration diffusers. As regards sludge treatment, thickeners for dehydration will be installed and the sludge will be stored and will then go through the cogeneration installation that will produce electricity that will cover 50% of the power consumed by the Treatment Station,” said the company’s director.
The works to rehabilitate 140 km of water pipes and 7 km of sewer pipes will start next week. “The measures to step up the development and modernization of the water supplier will continue this year, both at technical and at economic levels, so as to provide high-quality services for the consumers,” concluded Veronica Herta.
