Dimitriana Surdu is the second Moldovan athlete who qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games, after marathoner Lilia Fisikovici, IPN reports.
The 25-year-old athlete ranked first in weight throw at the Open Championship of Romania with the result of 18.62 meters. Dimitriana also competed in discuss throw, where she finished second.
At the competition in Cluj-Napoca that involved athletes from 14 countries, the winner’s rostrum was also mounted by Zalina Petrivaskaya and Sergey Marghiev in hammer throw and by Diana Podoleanu in the 100 m race.
