The poll commissioned by the Democratic Party (PDM) to the U.S. company Lake Research Partners, which was carried out in partnership with the Marketing and Polling Institute (IMAS), is the most ambitious opinion poll conducted in the Republic of Moldova so far, said experts invited to the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports. However, some of the experts question the correctitude of the survey.

The representative of Lake Research Partners David Mermin said that even if a large part of the respondents consider things in Moldova go wrong, the results of the poll reveal a positive trend.

IMAS director Doru Petrutsi said this poll is a premiere for the Republic of Moldova. “It was a fantastic exercise. The poll covered a sample of 12,300 respondents and is the greatest poll ever carried out in the Republic of Moldova. The results of this poll are an extraordinary analytical support,” he stated.

Analyst Nicolae Negru doubted the way in which the poll was conducted. “I wonder how correctly his poll was conducted, if the operators obeyed the rules. Didn’t the operator go to the pub to fill out all the questionnaires if this found no one at home at the first address? We know that something like this can happen in our country. For these reasons, we must have guarantees that the results correspond to the reality,” he said.

Director of the Institute for Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu wondered if a political party in Moldova has financial possibilities to pay for such a poll. “Such a survey is very important. This is not an ordinary poll. A question arises yet as to how much it cost and if a political party in our country can afford such luxury,” he stated.
