The article forms part of IPN’s information campaign that presents biographical data, information about the incomes and property and professional experience of candidates for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau.

MP Diana Caraman is contending for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Communists (PCRM) which is led by former President Vladimir Voronin.

Diana Caraman was born on February 3, 1990. She studied at the Chisinau Theoretical Lyceum “Dacia” and then at the Chisinau Theoretical Lyceum “Gaudeamus”.

In 2009-2012, she studied at the Free International University of Moldova, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in economic sciences and later a master’s degree in economic sciences from this university.

In 2014, she started to work as an assistant in the office of an MP of the 19th legislature. In 2015-2016 and in 2017-2019, she served as an assistant in the office of an MP of the 20th legislature, while in 2016-2017 – as a consultant in the office of the head of the parliamentary group of the Party of Communists.

She is the secretary of the Central Committee of the PCRM and first secretary of the party’s Municipal Committee.

After the snap parliamentary elections of July 2021, Diana Caraman entered Parliament on the ticket of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. She is a member of the Parliament’s commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and the media.

For 2022, she declared 243,338 lei in salaries of MP. She owns an apartment in which she lives, but she didn’t provide details about it in the property statement. She also declared costs related to consultant duties whose market value is estimated at 108,000 lei. The value of the service she bought on December 31, 2022 is hachured by her in the statement.

When launching her election campaign, Diana Caraman said that when the Communists were in power, when Lenin was in the center of the city, Chisinau thrived. It was modern, clean, green and developed swiftly, with happy people confident in tomorrow. Her team is ready to restore Chisinau to its former glory and to start a dynamic development process. “It was better earlier with the Communists and it will be yet better with the Communists” – this is the slogan of the PCRM’s election campaign.

As the draw decided, Diana Caraman of the Party of Communists will be the fifth on the list of candidates on the ballot.
