The Kingdom of Denmark is opening an embassy in Chisinau at the beginning of 2024. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, had a discussion on this topic with his Danish counterpart, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
By opening an embassy in Moldova, Denmark will have a diplomatic presence in every state on the front line to Ukraine. At the same time, when Denmark takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2025, EU enlargement efforts will be among the Danish tasks. The new embassies in Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina should also be seen in this light.
This year, several countries, including the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Spain, have opened or will soon open embassies in the Republic of Moldova.
