Denmark committed itself to support Moldova with over €9 million euros this year. The money will go to implement projects to strengthen electoral processes, strategic communication, the fight against disinformation, energy efficiency and to develop security capacities. "It is valuable support to face the challenges," Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov said at a news conference, quoted by IPN.

According to the official, the fact that Denmark opened its diplomatic representation in Moldova confirms the improvement of the dialogue between Chisinau and Copenhagen.

"We are confident that we will maintain this upward trend and dialogue, including during the rotating presidency of the European Union, which Copenhagen will take over on July 1, 2025," said Cristina Gerasimov.

During talks with the Minister for European Affairs of Denmark Marie Bjerre, Cristina Gherasimov expressed Moldova's wish in 2025 to have greater access to programs that are now open only to EU member states. "In this way, the gradual integration into the EU will be achieved, benefits will be provided for Moldovan citizens and economic agents," said the Deputy Premier.

For her part, Marie Bjerre assured that Denmark supports the path of the Republic of Moldova towards EU membership.

"Moldova became a candidate country two years ago and achieved a very good track record during a very short period," said the Danish official. Bjerre added that Moldova has made a strategic choice by opting for the European path and that it is waiting for the start of negotiations on different chapters and clusters. "The enlargement of the EU is an important element for the Danish presidency. Europe needs to become stronger and it can do so through enlargement," concluded Marie Bjerre.
