“There is no element to show that anything else can happen than the Communists returning to power again. That is why the democrats' show-off is a ridiculous game likely to lead Moldova to a catastrophe,” former presidential advisor Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the People's Action Movement, told a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mocanu has said that, in case “things remain as they are, the democratically-oriented parties fail to stick together, Moldova will be ruled by the PCRM, which will win the elections at large and will be able to make the Government all by itself, and will elect the president with someone else's help”. According to Mocanu, a solution would be that “the democratic parties go for the poll with a single national list and to organize street protests to try to remove the police, which is now an extremely dangerous structure both for Moldova's racy and for every single citizen.” “The system is created in such a way that even President Voronin can control it. Interior Minister Papuc has been returned to maintain the situation under control,” Mocanu said. Referring to his sons, he has said they took refuge in the Romanian embassy in Chisinau three months ago, while the Moldovan investigators have started no penal proceedings against them. He says the prosecutor investigating the case has asked the Romanian authorities to extradite Adrian and Roman Mocanu. Sergiu Mocanu vowed not to let himself intimidated and will make justice. Roman and Adrian Mocanu are suspected of having beaten up a young man at a disco in Chisinau on August 10. They were taken into the police's custody on September 20, and then were released on parole, on condition not to leave their domicile. On September 25, they jumped over the fence of the Romanian embassy, asking for the protection of the Romanian state as both have Romanian citizenship. The Mocanu family calls this dossier to be politically commissioned by president Vladimir Voronin.
