Democratic Party asks to oust PRCM from race

The Democratic Party (PDM) asks for ousting the Communists Party (PCRM) from the electoral race. PD members accuse the PCRM of having organized a concert in Chisinau's down-town with the support of the public broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”. Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the PCRM representative at the CEC (Central Electoral Commission), rejected the accusations saying it's confusion. PDM deputy president Oazu Nantoi told a news conference Monday that his party had already submitted a complaint to the CEC asking for ousting the PCRM from the race. Nantoi has showed the media an ordinance inked by Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, allowing Teleradio-Moldova to organize concert dedicated to the Lovers' Day on February 13 and 14. He also showed an invitation to the concert reading that the organizer of the showed is the Communist Youth Union. “The elections are rigged from the very beginning. Company president Valentin Todercan states the public broadcaster aired Eurovision live, and we found that the airing was ensured by Bis Concert International. The concert was attended by the enamored president of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin. The question is – did he appear as an electoral actor or not? We think he did,” Nantoi says. The PDM members showed pictures from the concert displaying flags with the PCRM's signs, erected by the young people at the show. Sergiu Sarbu, the PCRM representative at the CEC, has told Info-Prim Neo the question is about a mistake. “Teleradio-Moldova organized the concert in Opera Theater square, while the City Hall certified the event as occurring on the Great National Assembly Square. It is a registration mistake, since the concert on the Assmbly square was staged by the Young Communists, which are an NGO, having a sign resembling ours.” First deputy president of the PDM, Oleg Serebrian, accuses the PCRM of using the church to electioneer. He proved it by the recent meeting President Vladimir Voronin, the president of the PCRM, had with some Orthodox priests in Moldova's north. “The information that they discussed elections is certain since it came from the Balti bishopric,” Serebrian said. Chiril Lucinschi, running for a seat on the PDM's list, told the news conference the party will set up centers in Chisinau where the people can report on breeches of the electoral law.
