Social justice, support for the farmers and promotion of the national products are among the priorities of the Party “Democracy at Home” that were presented in the second electoral debate staged by IPN. Representatives of the party led by Vasile Costiuc said their party showed in time that the large schemes of corruption can be revealed, if there is will, while the justice sector can be reformed only with the involvement of international experts who would help assess persons from the system, IPN reports.

The party’s representatives noted that huge sums of money are not needed for starting to improve things in the country. The Party “Democracy at Home” exposed tens of illegalities and serious schemes of corruption.

“We proved that only with a mobile phone connected to the Internet and with several liters of diesel fuel we can correct something in this country. By civic activism, we exposed a number of schemes of corruption that impoverish the state and the citizens. We proved that the national producers, local products can be promoted,” stated the party’s candidate for MP Sergei Ceban.

In a mainly agrarian state, the development and modernization of agriculture and the creation of a predictable climate for investors should be the government’s priorities.

“We will propose a law to issue the farmers with licenses for the direct import of diesel fuel and to partially exempt them from excise duties and VAT. We are for the designing of a national program to support the rural producing and processing SMEs. The new investors should be exempted from tax on profit for a period of five years and the state should offer a subsidy equal to 50% of the value of the equipment bought when these enterprises were started,” stated Serghei Ceban.

According to him, the reformation of the justice sector and the combating of grand corruption are possible only with the assistance of foreign experts.

“We need a clean, upright Parliament where there is political will. Later, there should be set up a joint commission of national and international experts to assess all the justice system employees, but should take into account the experience of Albania which, at a certain moment, found itself in the situation that cases could not be tried given the shortage of staff. Furthermore, there should be will on the part of the system so that the system cleans itself from inside,” stated Serghei Ceban.

In the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, the “Party “Democracy at Home” will be under No. 11 on the ballot.

The second electoral debate of the series “Developing Political Culture though Public Debates” also involved the representative of the Party of Change.

IPN’s third electoral debate set for July 1, 11:15am, will feature the election contenders Alliance for the Union of Romanians, the Party of Law and Justice and the Party of Action and Solidarity.

IPN Agency holds the electoral debates as part of the series of debates “Developing Political Culture though Public Debates” with the assistance of the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
