The Republic of Moldova wants to build a modern and resilient army capable of defending the country and providing its citizens with security. The statement was made by Minister Anatoly Nosatii in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, where the dignitary is on his first working visit at the invitation of his counterpart Pål Jonson, IPN reports.
The defense minister told a joint press conference that he is grateful that Moldova is not alone in its commitments.
"We look forward to continuing to exchange practices with Sweden in countering hybrid threats and disinformation, in training and in developing defense capabilities. Sweden, which joined the EU in 1995 and NATO in March last year, pays a lot of attention to defense and its experience is valuable for us," said Anatoly Nosatii.
Russia's war against Ukraine has had a strong impact on regional and global security, he added.
"The war showed how vulnerable Moldova is and how important it is to strengthen our defenses. We looked at how Sweden can help us to build resilience and confidence in a better, peaceful and prosperous future," Minister Nosatsii said.
