The MPs are to examine a draft decision concerning the Resolution of the European Moldova Assembly that was held in the Great National Assembly Square on May 21. By adopting this decision, Parliament will express its support for the demands formulated by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the Resolution. The draft decision was included in the Parliament’s agenda, IPN reports.
The draft decision was sponsored by MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity. By its adoption, the irreversible European integration and accession path will be confirmed as a national priority of the Republic of Moldova. Also, the whole society, including all the political forces, are urged to show maturity, unity and solidarity so as to strengthen the political and social dialogue in the name of the national interest – the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
“The Government and the responsible state institutions are requested to make concerted and efficient efforts to fulfill the action plan for implementing the measures proposed by the European Commission in its opinion about the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union and to prepare all the instruments needed for the accession negotiations, until the mandate of the current legislature expires,” says the draft.
The draft decision is to be debated by Parliament.
The over 75,000 participants in the European Moldova Assembly adopted a resolution by which they ask to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova to establish the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union as irreversible and definitive. The document says that this common aspiration of the citizens must be fulfilled by all political actors in the Republic of Moldova.
