The candidates of ACUM bloc and the Socialist Party for the Chisinau City Hall, Andrei Năstase and Ion Ceban, promise that if they accede to mayoralty, they will fight against the "real estate mafia" in Chisinau. The two candidates presented their solutions to this issue in a debate on Jurnal TV, IPN reports. .

The candidate of the AUM bloc argues that the first thing to be done to combat the "real estate mafia" is to eliminate corruption within the municipality and to resort to transparency, including revealing everything that has happened lately in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). "We propose the CMC to declare a moratorium on turning over the municipal lands for the construction of housing blocks until the approval of the General Urban Plan. (...) We also propose the alienation of all land plots for construction at market price, only based on open tenders, the inventory of all leases of municipal land, the verification of all permissive documents for demolition and construction works for the last two years." said the ACUM candidate.

Moreover, Andrei Năstase proposes opening telephone lines where people could report about illegal constructions in Chisinau municipality, but also introducing criminal liability for drawing up non-compliant urban planning certificates. .

Andrei Năstase says that he can’t wait to come to the capital's City Hall to collect all the documentation in order to shed light, bring order and notify the state institutions regarding the alleged illegalities committed by the Socialists in the Chisinau Municipal Council in relation to this subject.

Socialist candidate Ion Ceban claims that Andrei Nastase’s proposals are actually part of his report previously sent to the Government, in which he shows the current situation in the real estate field and requests concrete measures. In addition, the Socialist says that some of these actions are already underway. "Everything you read is from my report sent personally to you. You just copied the theses from my report,” said Ion Ceban. .

Ion Ceban maintains that the report about the "real estate mafia" submitted to the Government refers to 200 buildings that have been analysed in the last half year. The Socialist candidate specifies that this report was sent to both the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior, but no measures were taken. .

Andrei Năstase and Ion Ceban will compete on Sunday, November 3, in the second round for Chisinau mayoralty. In the first round, Andrei Năstase accumulated 31.08% of the votes, while Ion Ceban - 40.19%.
