Death rate increased by 7.3% in 2005

The number of deaths in 2005 was 44,700, increasing by 7.3% comparing to 2004. The increase of general mortality rate was registered in all death causes, representing 12.4 deaths per 1,000 inhabitants. According to data of the National Bureau of Statistic, the structure of death rate per death causes last year show that the most numerous deaths – 56.3%, diseases of circulatory system, followed by tumors – 11.7%, diseases of digestive system – 10.3%, accidents, intoxications and traumas – 8.7%, diseases of respiratory system – 6.3%. Male death rate, specified on death causes, differs from female one. Male death over-rate was 3.4 times more in accidents, intoxications and traumatisms, 22 times – in case of respiratory system diseases, 1.4 times – tumors and 1.2 times in digestive system diseases. Female death over-rate was registered only in case of circulatory system diseases. General death rate on causes differs significantly on territorial level. Deaths caused by circulatory system diseases were more pronounced in districts Donduseni, Briceni, Floresti, Edinet and Rascani, digestive system diseases – in Soldanesti, Orhei, Causeni, Calarasi, Leova, Rezina and Dubasari and those of respiratory system – in Ocnita, Briceni, Glodeni and Donduseni.
