The period for accepting the set of documents required for registering initiative groups in support of candidates for Bashkan and the documents from persons who want to run independently is over. Five applicants submitted the documents by May 30 and three of them were already registered. The other two files are being examined.
Vice president of the Election Commission of Gagauzia Maria Croitor has told IPN that the three registered candidates are current Bashkan Irina Vlah, deputy of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Sergey Cimpoieș, and Ivan Burduji. The files of Dmitry Manol and Vasilii Aladov are under examination. The registration of candidates for Bashkan ends on June 6.
Maria Croitor also said lists for collecting signatures were also issued to Elena Novac and Mihail Vlah. Elena Novac announced her withdrawal and returned the lists to the Commission. Mihail Vlah also said he decided to withdraw, but hasn’t yet returned the lists, which is a mandatory action.
The Bashkan (Governor) elections in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia were to take place on May 19, but the local legislative body, the People’s Assembly, transferred them to June 30.
